Odds differed slightly between bookmakers when checked. For example, William Hill listed Chacarra at 14/1, Højgaard and Ayora at 16/1 and Neergaard-Petersen at 18/1, while other markets had Højgaard shorter at 14/1.

Driving distance and Strokes Gained: Off the Tee: There are opportunities for aggressive players to attack short par fours and par fives. Length should create extra birdie and eagle chances, provided players keep the ball away from water.
Scrambling: Missing these greens in the wrong positions can create difficult recoveries from bunkers, closely mown areas and rough.
Wind performance: Great Northern is exposed and changes direction throughout the routing, meaning players comfortable controlling trajectory in the breeze deserve additional attention.
These same categories—approach play, driving, scrambling and wind control—were highlighted in pre-tournament analysis of the venue.

- Rasmus Højgaard — Best Bet to Win
Recommended bet: Rasmus Højgaard to win at 16/1 or better
If 16/1 is available, Højgaard is my preferred selection at the head of the market.
There are obvious sentimental reasons for Danish bettors to support him, but the case goes well beyond nationality.
Højgaard won this tournament in 2023 and finished runner-up to Marco Penge in 2025. That gives him an outstanding record in his national championship even though the tournament has moved courses.
More importantly, he has greater familiarity with Great Northern than many international players. The DP World Tour notes that Rasmus and Nicolai Højgaard have trained at the venue during their careers. That experience could be valuable during the first competitive DP World Tour rounds ever staged here.
His recent form also contains encouragement. Højgaard finished fourth at the Rocket Classic before placing 49th at the Wyndham Championship, according to Betfair’s pre-tournament form guide.
Power is another positive.
Great Northern offers enough room from the tee for strong drivers to attack while creating scoring opportunities on reachable par fives and shorter par fours. Højgaard’s combination of length and proven ability in stronger fields makes him particularly attractive in a tournament where the leading group is not separated by much in the betting.
At 14/1 he is still a legitimate contender, but 16/1 or bigger represents the more attractive entry point.

Calum Hill may not attract the same attention as the Danish stars, but his profile matches Great Northern remarkably well.
Hill has been one of the more consistent performers on the DP World Tour in 2026. Sporting Life highlighted a run of eight consecutive made cuts before Denmark, along with runner-up finishes in Bahrain and Doha earlier in the campaign.
The course-design connection is particularly interesting: both of Hill’s previous DP World Tour victories came on courses associated with Jack Nicklaus design, according to Sporting Life’s analysis.
That alone doesn’t guarantee success, but it supports the broader course-fit argument.
Hill also has useful evidence in exposed conditions and in Scandinavia, including strong previous results in Denmark, Sweden and Finland. His runner-up performance in Doha adds another indication that wind does not automatically knock him out of contention.
With current outright prices around 30/1, Hill makes more appeal as an each-way selection than several players trading below 20/1.

Bernd Wiesberger brings something most of this field cannot offer: a combination of current winning form and an exceptional record in this championship.
The Austrian is the only golfer to have won the Danish event twice, lifting the trophy in 2019 and 2021.
Naturally, those victories came at a different course, so bettors should not treat them as traditional venue history. What they do demonstrate is Wiesberger’s comfort competing in Denmark and his ability to handle the atmosphere surrounding this national championship.
More important is his 2026 form.
Wiesberger returned to the winner’s circle at the Volvo China Open in April, while additional strong performances have included third at the BMW International Open and fourth in Austria.
His statistical profile is another reason to be interested. Pre-tournament analysis had Wiesberger ranked strongly in both approach play and around-the-green performance—two areas that could become extremely important when attacking Great Northern’s shaped and elevated greens.
At approximately 40/1, the price allows more room for each-way betting than those available on the favourites.

For bettors looking beyond the obvious names, Alejandro Del Rey has an intriguing Great Northern profile.
The Spaniard has produced one of his more consistent DP World Tour seasons, with multiple top-25 finishes and a third-place result at the Catalunya Championship. He also finished 17th against stronger opposition at the Scottish Open.
His biggest advantage here could come from the tee.
Pre-tournament statistical analysis had Del Rey sixth in driving distance and 15th in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, while his putting and scrambling numbers had also improved.
That is precisely the sort of profile I want at Great Northern.
Aggressive driving can shorten the par fives and potentially bring the shorter par fours into play. The danger is obvious—water will punish poor decisions—but at 45/1 bettors are being compensated for taking on additional variance.
He is not as reliable a selection as Højgaard or Hill, but the combination of power, recent consistency and price makes Del Rey one of the better outsiders.

What About Favourite Eugenio Chacarra?
Eugenio Chacarra deserves his position near the top of the 2026 Danish Golf Championship winner odds.
He won consecutive DP World Tour titles at the KLM Open and Italian Open in June, and he leads this week’s field in world-ranking points accumulated since the beginning of March according to Betfair’s form analysis.
The KLM Open victory is especially relevant because The International features some of the exposed, water-in-play characteristics analysts are using as comparisons for Great Northern.
The problem is price.
At around 14/1, much of his obvious quality is already built into the market. His recent results have also cooled somewhat following those two victories, including a 46th-place finish at The Open.
Chacarra can certainly win, but I would rather take Højgaard at a similar or bigger number because of the Dane’s combination of course familiarity, tournament record and home advantage.
Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen: Contender but Fatigue Is a Concern
Neergaard-Petersen is another player who could easily make the selections look foolish if left out.
He arrives with PGA Tour experience, a top-ten result at The Open and a 2026 victory already on his résumé. However, there is one significant concern: workload.
The Dane confirmed before the tournament that this will be his seventh consecutive week competing internationally, acknowledging that the schedule has begun taking a toll. He played extensively in the United States this season and missed the FedExCup Playoffs after finishing 99th in the standings.
At 18/1, that makes me slightly cautious about backing him in the outright market.
His talent and familiarity with Great Northern make him a major threat, but bettors should decide whether the relatively short price adequately accounts for possible fatigue.
Other Players to Watch
Angel Ayora
Ayora has the long game to attack Great Northern, and several analysts have highlighted strong finishes at tournaments played on exposed or comparable layouts. The concern is whether his recent putting is strong enough to justify a price around 16/1-18/1.
Oliver Lindell
The Finnish golfer is firmly established among the market leaders and has accumulated one of the stronger world-ranking point totals in this field since March. At around 18/1-20/1, however, there is limited margin for error.
Jacob Skov Olesen
Jacob Skov Olesen strengthens the home challenge and is among the leading players in the current Closing Swing standings. At roughly 25/1, he offers a bigger price than the two Rasmuses while retaining the potential benefit of playing in familiar Danish conditions.
Thorbjørn Olesen
A multiple DP World Tour winner and Ryder Cup player, Olesen provides another obvious Danish threat. He is available at approximately 25/1, putting him between the favourites and the value selections in the betting market.
Bubba Watson
The two-time Masters champion is one of the biggest names in the field and is priced around 50/1. Watson’s creativity and power make him fascinating on a risk-reward Nicklaus design, although bettors must decide how much weight to place on reputation compared with current DP World Tour form.
